Synod; NEW EVANGELIZATON

 

Popes throughout the Church’s history have called upon the faithful to deepen their understanding of a particular aspect of the faith. 

 

 

This coming year, Pope Benedict XVI is calling Catholics to a renewed conversion to the Catholic Faith, asking each one of us to deepen our relationship with Christ this coming year. 


   


Pope Benedict XVI said the Synod of Bishops this October is “a moment to examine the journey that had been made in terms of spreading Gospel in the modern day and to resume with fresh impetus the urgent work still to be done in evangelizing today’s world.”

It will coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council in 1962 and;
the 20th Anniversary of the promulgation of the Catechism of the Catholic Church in 1992. 
The Synod will launch the Year of Faith, from October 11, 2012, to November 24, 2013, the Feast of Christ the King.

In addition to the kick-off of the Year of Faith on October 11, the 50th Anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council, the Holy Father is convening a Synod on the New 

Evangelization

  
 Bishops from various countries will gather to discuss the efforts of the New Evangelization in the Catholic Church throughout the world. 

   

  

In the New Evangelization, the faithful are asked to deepen their faith in accordance with the teachings of Christ, believe in the Gospel and spread it, and embark on their own evangelization. The focus is the call on all Catholics “to be evangelized and then go forth to evangelize.”  (The Synod)

To the Youths

Catholic Charismatic Renewal, St. Joseph University in Tanzania is among those who put efforts to the New Evangelization, especially to the Youths!

In collaboration with Inter-Universities Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Tanzania, CCR-SJUIT is accomplishing the Pope's vision to evangelize the youth telling them to come out their bad ways & deeds and turn to Jesus' cool teachings.

 

University Students should remember their faith and live it. That is Renewal. Catholic Church is teaching them every day to live the gospel, yet they do it recklessly. Let’s review our life and live as what the church wants us to. That's New Evangelization.

The Synod

This Synod of Bishops is the XIII (13th) ordinary General Assembly. It was opened on 07, October 2012 and will get to the end on 28, October 2012.

The Synod of Bishops, an advisory body of the Pope, was established by Pope Paul VI on September 15, 1965, “to foster the unity and cooperation of bishops around the world with the Holy See, and to keep the desires of the Second Vatican Council to keep the positive spirit engendered by the conciliar experience.” It is a group of bishops chosen from various regions of the world who meet to assist the Roman Pontiff with their counsel on the preservation and growth of faith and morals.
